For the past 8-9months or so, one often asked question from my friends and relatives is : So whats the new mobile model u got? Yes everyone knws abt my mobile mania....But the truth is for athe past months I havent turned my eye towards mobiles or I didnt even think of getting a new one........and slowly now I've started browsing the mobile sites again.....so back to form :)

My first mobile was Nokia 3315 and that was the only model I dont have with me now. I got it exchanged when I got my 6610i and only later I regretted that I shouldnt have given that.....as it wud have filled in my museum now.

Nokia 7610 : I got this on a tamil new yr day its lil heavy but stylish in look!

Next is my Sony.....I was very stubborn that no other brand is as gud as Nokia till I started using Sony. Its equally gud and this is the one I m currently using.

My search for Nokia 1600!

Oflate almost when this model got out of production, my eyes turned towards it though I had a liking from the very beginning of the models introduction when the ad said "Vilithidu India vilithidu" as it had a talking alarm. It was the same case with all of my mobiles.....Either I like the model late or tend to buy it once the production gets down. But the other 3 mobiles I own didnt give such a tough time....we found it after searching in 5-6 shops.

And as always the poor victim is my hubby who accompanies me for the search. We had almost searched this model in all the mobile outlets and the only answer was this model is gone and u'll not find it anywhere. Hubby also suggested to go in for a 2nd hand seeing my craze for it....But then I didnt want to, as I was not used to this 2nd hand stuff for any products that I buy esp mobiles. My craving for this model grew day by day esp when I knew its not available :)

This time I almost gave up...and said lets leave it after having a tiring search. But hubby didnt want to.... so searched in few online sites and most of them didnt show it even in the search resuls. To our surprise ebay had one in stock...we booked it at once, the next day there was a msg from ebay saying that one piece that is in stock is damaged so asked us to select someother model, they also convinced us saying that they wud give a higher model for the same cost. We replied back saying to refund the money as we were specific abt the model. Few days later there was a msg saying we have shipped the same model u had asked for. When I saw this mail.....I was skeptical whether I wud get the model I asked for or some other!? I was waiting for the home delivery and 2 days later amma called up saying it has come....gone I cudnt concentrate anything @ off so applied an hrs permission and left home. Oh my god only when I opened the parcel and saw the set I was totally relaxed and happy. The color was white....but I didnt bother abt it as I had this habit of changing the panel. Cant express the feeling of getting a thing u longed/searched for sooo long!

Now coming to its features.....I understand this was the same question many of my friends asked : Wat was soo special abt it? I had no apt answer to them except tat I liked it which itself is special ;) Search in so many shops, many confused faces at the shops seeing me, an hrs permission at office all for a model which didnt have any fancy features - yes it was a basic color model with a talking alarm tats it. I luved the buttons...so glossy and attractive! Also the receivers voice needs a special mention...Its so clear even in Chennai traffic!

Though I've tried few other brands also....I am a huge fan of Nokia products and tats the reason why all of my mobiles in my museum ;) are nokia except for 1 which is Sony. I havent found any flaws with my N1600 till now....I usually find some fault within a weeks time of buy which can be a minor one to others but matters to me the most :( But this time its been close to a yr & no disappointments with N1600 and Nokia rocks!!

Through the years I havent been that lucky enough to get what I wanted(right from my career till the simplest things like these) at that instant....but I get it after a struggle n delay but something best & worth the delay and I am really very happy with it!! :)

Nokia 6610i Review and my bonding with it.... :o)

Looks like there are more of cooking post in 'my passions'......when friends who knw me well, check out this space they wud be surely puzzled (not only them me too) about the many posts by me tat too in cooking. I decided myself to write a post on mobiles....Hmm what shall I write??!! The first thing that my eye catches when I ask this question is my Nokia 6610i in my hand and so here u go with it...

With mobile craze increasing day by day and with all the offers we are seeing we get easily carried away. This is my mobile experience with my 2nd mobile buy(1st mobile was given for xchange while getting this one) . My first mobile was Nokia 3310(BnW screen),...It was the time mobile phones were getting popular and amma got it for me during my project time when I was in Chennai......first time I was in hostel far away from her......but ofcourse only physically..! It was all fun to own a first mobile........the ringtones, sms(how can I forget it ;), pic msgs and the tones that we composed even A.R.Rehman wouldnt have been so much excited after his hit composition but we did! Then came the entry of new sleek flashy mobiles with Camera, Polyphonic ringtones, color screen.....And I was also tempted to hve one n selected a model too tat was Nokia 6610i.......But was thinking too hard as it was 8K, I went to the shops many times but returned back in a 2nd thought...New things always had a craze and I was also no exception for it...At tat time a mobile for tat cost wasnt affordable by amma but still she didnt say NO as usual.....Finally got a N6610i for a exchange price of 7K. Will u believe?!! I didnt sleep the whole night....I was with the mobile as if it was the last day with it.....I luved it so much....did this and that in the name of exploring ;) even got a datacable for it.....I was sticking to it all the time. The panel in the pic is not orginal...the orginal came with blue / silver.

I was packing home from office n it was already late 8PM (ha late at work in my language) Hubby came to pick me up......We were nearing our house and only then I realised my mobile was not with me I was panic.....coudnt speak a word except said him to drive back office. He said y do u get tensed for such silly things after all its a mobile......But to me it wasnt just a phone...but the meaning of that....nothing can replace it! Rushed towards my place....my mobile wasnt there....I was totally shattered...what the hell of carelessness I said myself. Suddenly I remembered that I went to my friends place before leaving....And finally yes found my mobile there!! I took a deepbreath.....only after that! Things do have meaning for certain things are not just products.....Though I have afforded to have much more costlier mobiles now, I cant consider my N6610i as any other phone. Inspite of it having some minor defects(charging pblms n voice clarity pblms).........the bond that it has with me still says U r my BEST and u'l always stay soo!

Looks - Lookswise the Nokia 6610i is cool and ofcourse very much handy

Usage - Being a Nokia mobile phone, the Nokia 6610i is a easy to use mobile phone and the 4-way navigation key makes it easier. Also, the keypad is just right and they are well spaced out leaving very little scope to press the keys wrongly. The keypads are soo soft to be pressed.

Sound quality - The ear volume is less when to compared to other phone.....like it is too low when used in traffic and other public places.

Ringtones - The Nokia 6610i, provides 8-chord polyphonic ringing tones. Also, some polyphonic ringtones are In-built as well provided by Nokia.

FM Radio - The Nokia 6610i, provides a FM Radio as well. Most of the stations can be tuned(which I dont get tuned in even in my trascend MP3 player)and the FM Radio signals come very clearly even when they are unclear in traditional radio sets n also MP3 players.. However, the FM Radio, cannot be listened simultaneously by both Headset and Loudspeaker.

Camera - As far as I remember The Nokia 6610i, is one of the 1st camera mobile phones created by Nokia. Being a entry-level camera phone, the picture quality of the Nokia 6610i is not too clear, but still the photos are viewable and the quality of the camera is average. But still one will surely get disappointed when got this mobile for camera .

Battery Life -The Battery life of the Nokia 6610i is good and on recharging to full battery, it works for almost 2-3 days if it is not used too much.

Tats all for now folks! Though this mobile was out of production soon after I got it....I just wanted to leave a note that there existed a mobile model like this in the instant changing mushroom business I mean the mobile world ;)

Quick Tips for Nokia Symbian series(S60)

To be in short : S60 software on Symbian OS is the world’s most popular software for smartphones. Symbian is a small OS sitting in your mobile and thats the reason why it takes time to boot and start off.......Some of S60 mobiles are : N7610, N3650, N7650, N3600 etc...I have a nokia 7610(one of my mobiles ;)) lookwise very elegant n stylish, the camera is fairly reasonable for a 1MP click. More details of 7610 will follow in the near future. Now its for the tips:

Tip 1: Do u know how to use the edit button (abc or pencil button)?Heres how... in the inbox for example; u want to delete multiple sms, simply hold the edit button, scroll down, and then, press c to delete the marked sms. The edit button can also b used to copy and past text in sms, simply hold it and scroll across, choose copy. pretty good for placing song names in ngages

Tip 2: Save on battery and system memory being used by regulary checking the task manager which can be accessed by holding down the menu button!! Close the applications that are not in use.

Tip 3: Set the screen saver to a short time out period to prolong battery life.

Tip 4: Avoid restarting the phone, or repeatedly turning it on and off. This helps increase battery life.

Tip5: While you are viewing a picture in your phone's gallery, press one of these shortcut keys (definitely works on 6600, not sure about other symbians)

1 - turn image anticlockwise

3 - turn image clockwise

* - toggle on/off of full screen

5 - zoom in

0 - zoom out

Tip 6: Only got blue, green and purple in your 3650 colour palette? This free app adds 3 more colours: Palette Extender.

Tip 7: You can speed up the phone by setting the time of the "Recent calls register" to one day (30 days by default).

Tip 8: Delete all messages from your Inbox at once:Menu > Messaging > Inbox > Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark all > Options > Delete

Tip 9: Record the sound of a phone call using the (sound) Recorder. Menu > Extra's > Recorder > Options > Record sound clip.Note: short beeps are audible during call registration.But there is a 60 second limitation so if you want unlimited sound recording get this app: Extended Recorder.

Tip 10: If you would like to avoid being "blue jacked", keep bluetooth turned off, or set your phone's visibility to hidden.

Before u get a mobile.....

Finally took off the coming soon tag.....;) Hmm had been waiting for my exam to get over to actively start posting here...As I know i wud be so excited in this topic tat there are chances for me to get distracted :) so I postphoned it myself!

Brand - First filter the mobile brand to avoid confusions....These days most of the brands are gud it all depends on what features ur looking for and the likes u have whether its the design or features or the userinterface.

Mobile sites - Browse through the mobile sites for its detailed features and compare them with other mobiles. Check gsmarena for mobile reviews and user opinions.

Shop Survey - Go in for some shop survey for any offers or price variation.

User Reviews - And importantly read some user reviews n opinions...dont decide purely on that but still u can have an idea on wat is wat....As far as I know, these days 50% of the mobiles comes with some minor defects...If not today it may show it, may be later..So its better to be prepared.You can be well known about the problems n its solutions in user reviews...Its better to be aware of the problem that may occur in future.

Last Opinion - After all these, have last opinion of the sales person becos I feel not all of them will direct u in the right way!
